This report presents a review of rabbit baiting policies, products and field practices in Australia and New Zealand and evaluates the current role of baiting in rabbit control. The report identifies limitations to the efficacy of current rabbit baiting techniques and makes recommendations for priority actions at the strategic and policy level and priority research directions to improve baiting practices and techniques.
The review focuses primarily on baiting practice in Australian states and territories but draws on information and experience from New Zealand where appropriate. Consultations with practitioners, policy makers, researchers and commercial bait manufacturers as well as a review of current literature provide the basis of the document.
