Observations on the organisation of the ependyma overlying the pineal gland in a non-eutherian mammal, Trichosurus vulpecula. An electron microscope study

Two techniques for determining the proportions of different plant species eaten by the brush-tailed opossum (Trichosurus vulpecula) were compared. Both techniques – bacterial degradation and chemical maceration of faeces – produced similar results, and confirmed that a correction factor is needed to allow for the differential loss of cuticle of some plant foods during digestion or preparation of faeces for microscopic examination.
