Australia’s biodiversity (that is: different plants, animals and micro-organisms, the genetic information they contain and the ecosystems they form), is a significant National asset with recognised global significance. Conservation of native flora and fauna and maintenance of critical habitat and ecological processes are crucial to maintaining biodiversity.
