Least weasel, prey of barn owl

Pellets of barn owl collected March – April 1948 from an old nest site at edge of wood in Virginia. Found skull and skeleton adult M. rixosa – only the 5th record of this species for the state. Barn owls hunt in the open not in woodland (a Microtus was in the same pellet) so weasel must have been caught in the adjacent fields.
