The NSW Kangaroo Management Program was approved by the Commonwealth Government on 1 January 2002. The program concerns the utilisation of the four largest kangaroo species in NSW: the red kangaroo, western grey kangaroo, eastern grey kangaroo and wallaroo.
The goal of the program is to maintain viable populations of these kangaroos throughout their ranges, in accordance with the principles of ecologically sustainable development.
