Historical biogeography of the least weasel (Mustela nivalis campestris) in Kansas, USA

Existence of least weasel in northern Kansas not ducumented until 1965. Recent record suggest continuing dispersal southwards in the east/central regions of state, originally associated with riparian habitats along flood plains of Kansas river system but now including watershed of Neosho R. Dispersal probably aided by periods of high population density.
