The Alan Fletcher Research Station (NRSciences – AFRS) began life as the headquarters for the Commonwealth Prickly Pear Board in 1920. Since then, the research station has maintained a strong emphasis on weed management, including ecology, biological control and chemical control. Today NRSciences – AFRS comprises three research groups, the Biocontrol of Weeds group, the Weed Management Group and the Pest Management Chemistry group.
