Advice about provisions on weeds and pest animals in planning schemes

This implementation note has been prepared to provide guidance to local governments on the role planning schemes and planning scheme policies can play in controlling the spread of weeds and animal pests. The protection of land, water, and vegetation from weeds and pest animals is a matter of state interest. The state recognises that pest management is largely undertaken at the local level and therefore strongly supports any initiative of local government to deal with pest management issues through planning schemes and other regulatory and non-regulatory mechanisms.
