FoxScan helping 14 local Councils in an integrated fox control program

SydneyFoxScanFourteen Councils across the southern, inner and eastern region of Sydney in collaboration with Royal Botanic Gardens are developing a regional approach to fox management to protect threatened species such as pied oyster catchers, and reduce fox impacts in urban and residential areas.

The FoxScan resource is being used to help map foxes across the entire project area, and the community are using the new FeralScan App to record sightings of foxes, fox evidence, and even fox impacts. Foxes are attracted to residents’ backyard chickens as well as native wildlife. This coordinated approach to monitor foxes across the region will help Councils tackle the fox problem in urban areas, and protect threatened species.
